When designing window furnishings for a modern apartment, the goal is not simply to cover the windows. The right solution needs to balance privacy, natural light, comfort and aesthetics.

For this Randwick apartment, large windows and generous ceiling heights brought in beautiful natural light and open district views. At the same time, the exposed glazing created practical issues around privacy, glare and heat control.

To solve this, we used a layered window furnishing approach: motorised roller blinds paired with full-height 100% linen Heron sheer curtains.

In the bedrooms, the motorised roller blinds provide privacy and stronger light control when needed, while the linen sheers keep the space soft, calm and elegant during the day. With smart operation, the blinds can be adjusted easily without affecting the clean, modern look of the room.

In the living area, the original exposed glazing made the space feel a little bare and visually hard. The black window frames were quite dominant, and the room needed more softness and balance.

By installing full-height sheers across the window wall, the whole atmosphere changed. The curtains gently diffuse sunlight, reduce glare, and add warmth without blocking the view. Running from near ceiling height and across the full width of the glazing, the sheers also make the room feel taller, more cohesive and more refined.

This job, blinds and curtains work beautifully on their own, and even more harmoniously together in apartment living: the motorised roller blinds provide the essential function: privacy, light control and everyday comfort & convenience.
