Curtain Proportion Matters

Dorothy is a bright & cheerful, active & energetic lady with a great passion for the outdoors. She wanted her home to reflect the same sense of freshness and tranquillity that she enjoys in nature. When she visited Ms Curtain to select new curtains for her entire home, Glasshouse immediately caught her eye. With its beautiful botanical print featuring flowers and foliage, it was exactly the natural look she had been searching for.

Glasshouse is a beautiful dim-out fabric with a botanical design. Its soft base colour layered leaves and floral details bring a calm, garden-inspired feeling into the room without looking too busy.

At first, Dorothy planned to use half-height curtains in her bedroom and her daughter’s bedroom. It was a practical option, but once we created pre-images showing full-height and wider curtains, the difference was obvious. The same fabric looked more elegant, more complete and better balanced when it dropped all the way to the floor.

The full-height design allowed the Glasshouse pattern to flow properly. It made the ceiling feel higher, softened the whole wall, and gave the bedrooms a more finished look. The wider curtain coverage also helped the window area appear larger and more considered.

Because these were bedroom curtains, Dorothy also wanted stronger light control. we paired it with a lining to reduce more light coming through. The lining was chosen in a tone "petal" close to the base colour "blush" of Glasshouse, so the curtain with paired lining kept its soft natural look while gaining better privacy, light control, cohesiveness, and weight.

With a half-height drop, Glasshouse looked pretty and practical. With full-height, wider curtains and matched blockout lining, it became a beautiful feature for the room — soft, natural, functional and much more refined.
