Quiet Depth: Coverlet Hunter Drapery

Cynthia had a very clear design vision for her new home on Sydney’s North Shore. She wanted the bedroom to feel refined and welcoming, with a sense of understated luxury rather than anything showy or overstated. More specifically, she was looking for curtains with rich colour, depth, warmth and texture — something that would bring character to the room while still feeling calm, elegant and highly resolved.

For this space, the solid drapery in Coverlet Hunter was a beautifully fitting choice. Its deep olive-brown tone carries a quiet richness that immediately adds warmth to the bedroom. The colour feels grounded and sophisticated, echoing the natural tones in the botanical wallpaper, the soft patterned bedding and the indoor plant. At the same time, the fabric itself has a subtle texture that gives the window treatment more body and presence. This is what helps the room achieve that low-key luxurious feeling: not excess, but depth; not shine, but substance.

The decision to use a solid fabric was especially important. The room already contains decorative interest through the wallpaper, the upholstered bedhead and the bedding. A patterned curtain would have competed with these elements and weakened the overall balance. Coverlet Hunter does the opposite. It brings visual weight and richness without creating noise, allowing the rest of the room to breathe while quietly anchoring the entire space.

Behind the solid drapery, the Carter-Chalk sheer introduces softness and lightness. It filters the daylight beautifully, provides daytime privacy and ensures the window still feels dressed when the solid curtains are open. The contrast between the pale sheer and the darker outer drapery creates a layered effect that feels complete and thoughtful.

The ceiling-mounted track further enhances the design. By taking the curtains close to the ceiling and allowing them to fall cleanly to the floor, the window wall appears taller and more architectural. The full, even folds add structure, while the generous coverage strengthens the feeling of comfort, privacy and warmth.

Together, Coverlet Hunter solid drapery and Carter-Chalk sheers express Cynthia’s design direction perfectly: understated luxury, rich texture, warm depth and a composed natural elegance. The result is a bedroom that feels intimate, polished and beautifully finished — a space where every element works quietly, but powerfully, together.
