Where Softness Meets Structure: A Window in Dialogue

When I first saw the beautiful arched opening in Henny’s home, I instantly fell in love with it. The question that followed was simple: how could we best dress and highlight this special space?
The bedroom window sits beneath a graceful architectural arch that naturally draws the eye. Rather than covering this feature, we wanted the design to celebrate it. Our solution was to install the curtains within the narrow space between the arch and the window, allowing the curved structure to remain fully visible while introducing softness and depth through fabric.
A double-layer curtain (Antares-linen & Axis FR-chalk) was chosen for both function and aesthetics. The sheer Axis FR-chalk curtains fall gently from within the arch, filtering the daylight and filling the room with a calm, diffused glow. On each side, the drapery ( Antares-linen) panels are neatly tailored and drawn back, framing the window and revealing the full curve of the arch above.
What makes this window especially beautiful is the relationship between the architecture and the curtains. The arch, rigid and perfectly curved, is contrasted by the soft, flowing fabric of the curtains. The bowl-like curve of the arch and the vertical folds of the drapery create a subtle dialogue—each responding to the other, highlighting their differences while complementing one another. The softness of the fabric seems to float within the firmness of the arch, creating a sense of balance and harmony.
Instead of competing with the architecture, the curtains work with it. The result is a window setting that feels both structured and tender, where the hard lines of the arch and the gentle folds of the curtains exist in a quiet, beautiful conversation.
